Chase Sui Wonders is in talks to join Goblin, filmmaker David Mikalson’s comedy for A24, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The actress, whose credits include The Studio and the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot, is being considered for a cast that already includes Kenneth Branagh, Skyler Gisondo and Will Forte.
Branagh has been tapped to provide the voice of the title character. Details of the film’s story remain undisclosed, although the project is described as a raunchy comedy. Wonders’ potential involvement would bring her to another comedy following her work on the Emmy-winning series The Studio.
Wonders has previously discussed her enthusiasm for the genre, particularly the work of Seth Rogen. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in 2025, before the first season of The Studio debuted, she recalled watching Pineapple Express while growing up and imagining that its world offered a glimpse of what adulthood might hold.
In that interview, she also singled out another Rogen film for praise. “This Is the End is the last great American comedy,” she said. Her comments about those films reflected an affection for comedy that she also expressed when discussing her own experience working on the Rogen-led series.
On The Studio, Wonders plays Quinn Hackett, who moves from an assistant position into an executive role. She is set to return as the character in the show’s second season in 2027. Describing her experience on the series to The Hollywood Reporter, Wonders said the freedom to be eccentric had felt liberating and encouraged her to embrace her comic instincts.
She also spoke about wanting to continue doing that kind of work, emphasizing the enjoyment she found in making comedy. “At the end of the day it’s just really fun to laugh,” she previously told the outlet.
Her forthcoming projects include another A24 film, Jeremy Saulnier’s Slayground, which is scheduled for release on Jan. 29, 2027. She is also currently in production on Naughty, a holiday comedy directed by Olivia Wilde, in which she stars opposite Jennifer Aniston and Peter Dinklage.
The Goblin discussions come alongside those film commitments and her planned return to The Studio next year. Wonders is represented by UTA and Sloane Offer Weber & Dern.
