The Dallas Cowboys breathed new life into their NFC East chances with a 38-21 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. CeeDee Lamb and Javonte Williams did most of the damage, combining for 229 yards and three touchdowns against a shorthanded Philadelphia lineup. The win moves Dallas to 3-4 on the season and puts the race for first place in the division back in play.
In baseball, the Milwaukee Brewers are one win from their first World Series after a 10-1 rout of the Tampa Bay Rays gave them a 3-0 lead. Milwaukee scored eight runs in the fifth inning, a rally that included seven straight two-out hits. Jackson Chourio collected four hits in the game. Game 4 is set for Tuesday at 8 p.m. on Fox.
The Golden State Valkyries are also a victory away from a championship, this one in the WNBA. They beat the Atlanta Dream 64-55 in a defensive Game 5 to move within one win of their first title. Kiah Stokes shut down Angel Reese and scored 13 points on offense. Game 6 will be played at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, with tip-off at 12:30 p.m. ET on Thursday.
There was bad news from Eugene, where Oregon quarterback Dante Moore will miss the rest of the 2026 season. He is out because of a concussion he suffered in Week 4 against USC. The Ducks have struggled on offense without him. They will next face No. 20 Northwestern with either Dylan Raiola or Brock Thomas under center.
The league also announced its plans for the biggest stage in football. Jay-Z and his company Roc Nation were tasked with choosing the Super Bowl LXI halftime act, and Jay-Z will take the field at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Feb. 14, 2027. Because the game falls on Valentine's Day, fans are already speculating about what the show will look like.
In college football, LSU is climbing the CFB Power Rankings after a rough stretch. The Tigers have been in a tough spot since losing to Kentucky on Oct. 10, but Lane Kiffin's team has answered by beating Mississippi State and Auburn by a combined 69-17. Quarterback Sam Leavitt threw for 387 yards in a 38-17 win at Auburn. CBS Sports writer Brandon Marcello noted that Leavitt joined Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels as the only LSU quarterbacks this century with 350 passing yards and 50 rushing yards in a game. Marcello added that Leavitt has thrown seven touchdowns with no interceptions over the last two weeks, after once leading the FBS in picks.
USC, another of Kiffin's former teams, is heading the other way after yet another loss. The Trojans now face Ohio State this weekend. Elsewhere, Miami has a surplus of Heisman Trophy contenders, with Malachi Toney and Darian Mensah in the conversation.
With the college basketball season close, CBS Sports ranked the sport's coaches, and Dan Hurley of UConn was the unanimous No. 1 choice of the panel. He has led the Huskies to three national title game appearances in four years. In the most recent one, they lost to a historically dominant Michigan team. David Cobb wrote that Hurley fell just short of becoming the first coach since John Wooden to win three national championships in four years, and that at 53 he could keep the dynasty going for a long time. Rick Barnes of Tennessee, Scott Drew of Baylor, Mick Cronin of UCLA, Sean Miller of Texas and Ben McCollum of Iowa were ranked 16th through 20th.
