Apple's iOS 27 includes a new Phone app feature called Call Context, which displays relevant information on screen while a user is on a call with a business. 9to5Mac, which tested the feature several times, described it as the kind of obvious addition that is likely to prove popular.

Call Context is part of Apple Intelligence. When someone phones a business, it automatically draws relevant details from across their apps and shows them on the call screen. Apple's own example is a confirmation code found in Mail that appears when the user calls an airline.

The update brings changes to many other apps, including Notes, Wallet, Maps and Messages. The 9to5Mac writer says Call Context stood out most for them. They describe themselves as someone who does not much like phone calls and so does not spend much time in the Phone app.

Even so, the writer singled out two additions from last year's iOS 26 as favorites: Call Screening and Hold Assist. Call Context is the second year in a row that the Phone app has delivered something that impressed them.

In a real-world test, the writer had booked flights with Southwest Airlines and later needed to call the airline about a change. When the call connected, their flight information was already on the screen. The iPhone also offered to read the confirmation number aloud during the call.

The system also showed details of a second Southwest flight, stacked beneath the first. That means if Call Context does not put the most relevant information at the top, the right item should in most cases be a quick tap away.

Availability is limited at first. Call Context works only in English, and it is restricted to iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch models that support Apple Intelligence.

9to5Mac invited readers to share their own experiences with Call Context in iOS 27 in the comments.
