Jennifer Lawrence leaned on the franchise that helped make her a global star to encourage her followers to vote in the 2026 midterm elections on Tuesday.
The Oscar winner shared a photo of herself on her Instagram Story performing the three-finger salute from The Hunger Games, pairing the gesture with a riff on one of her lines from the films. "Midterms bb. Don't forget who burns with us," she wrote, adding a link to Vote.org.
The caption plays on a speech delivered by her character, Katniss Everdeen, in the third installment of the series, Mockingjay Part 1. In a promotional video for the rebel cause in that film, Katniss declares, "You can torture us and bomb us and burn our districts to the ground. But do you see that? Fire is catching, and if we burn, you burn with us!"
Lawrence was also photographed making the salute in New York City on Tuesday's election day, wearing her hair in a braid reminiscent of the signature style of her beloved former character.
The voting message arrived just days after the actress confirmed her return to the franchise. Last Wednesday, she revealed on the Call Her Daddy podcast that she will appear in the upcoming prequel film Sunrise on the Reaping alongside original stars Josh Hutcherson and Woody Harrelson.
Reflecting on stepping back into that world, Lawrence called the experience "unbelievable. It was so crazy because it was the same crew. It was the same camera guys, the same AD, who I've worked with a million times .. and Josh and Woody and it was so emotional. Like Josh and I like didn't walk to the bathroom without our arms around each other. It was so beautiful."
Her election day post also stands in contrast to remarks she made last November, when she wondered aloud whether she should keep speaking out against President Trump after being vocal about her political views during his first term.
"I don't really know if I should," Lawrence said on The New York Times' The Interview podcast. "During the first Trump administration, I felt like I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off. But as we've learned, election after election, celebrities do not make a difference whatsoever on who people vote for. So then what am I doing? I'm just sharing my opinion on something that's going to add fuel to a fire that's ripping the country apart. We are so divided."
Sunrise on the Reaping opens on Nov. 25 and will chronicle Haymitch Abernathy's time in the Hunger Games.
