Politico is preparing its own live video broadcast for the midterm elections rather than leaving election night to the established television players.
The political news outlet will stream "Politico Elections Live" on Tuesday, November 3, starting at 9 p.m. Viewers can watch on Politico.com, in the Politico app and on YouTube.
Five of the outlet's leading journalists will analyze results in real time. The panel includes Adam Wren, Dasha Burns and Will Steakin, who co-author the "Playbook" newsletter, along with Jonathan Martin, the senior political columnist, and Alex Burns, the senior executive editor.
According to the outlet, the discussion will go beyond calling races. The panelists plan to draw on Politico's reporting from across the country, relay what they are hearing from their sources, and explain what the results could mean for national politics in the weeks ahead.
Jonathan Greenberger, Politico's global editor in chief, described the thinking behind the broadcast in a statement. "Election night is when Politico's audience wants more than a scoreboard," he said. "Our reporters have spent this cycle in the states and in constant contact with the candidates and campaigns." He added that the show "puts our audience in the room with them as the results arrive, with a sharp read on what the night means now and for 2028."
The livestream will close out a midterm cycle in which Politico journalists have traveled widely and shared their findings through video and audio programs. Among them are "On the Road" with Jonathan Martin, presented by Meta, and "The Conversation with Dasha Burns." Both programs have made stops in swing states as part of their reporting.
In recent months, Politico has put new emphasis on video podcasts as a way to showcase its journalists, who often contribute to mainstream news outlets.
