Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton has a strained left hamstring and will be out for some time, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania on Wednesday.
The length of his absence is not yet known. Sources said Pacers team doctors and Haliburton are still working to establish a clear timeline for his recovery.
The setback comes right after a long road back. Haliburton appeared in Indiana's first four games of the season, including back-to-back games last Sunday and Monday. Before that, he had been out for 16 months while recovering from a torn Achilles suffered in the 2025 NBA Finals.
After Monday's game in Milwaukee, Haliburton said he felt "a little beat up." He then showed up on the injury report on Wednesday.
Through the opening stretch of the season, he was averaging 21.8 points, 9.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 52% and playing 33 minutes per game.
Haliburton joins a growing list of star players who have been sidelined by injuries early this season. Oklahoma City's Jalen Williams, Minnesota's Anthony Edwards and Toronto's Kawhi Leonard are among the others.
The Pacers are dealing with a crowded injury list of their own. Four of their five starters appeared on the injury report for Wednesday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Ivica Zubac was ruled out with a left ankle sprain, and Andrew Nembhard, who missed Monday's game in Milwaukee, is listed as questionable with neck soreness.
Other Pacers are also hurt. T.J. McConnell has a right hamstring strain and has not yet played this season. Ben Sheppard tore his left meniscus, and Johnny Furphy underwent surgery on his right ACL.
Indiana is coming off a difficult year. With Haliburton out for the entire 2025-26 season, the Pacers won 19 games, the fewest in a single season in franchise history.
