The Las Vegas Raiders have no current plans to trade defensive end Maxx Crosby, and the five-time Pro Bowler wants to remain with the team, league sources told ESPN. With the NFL's Nov. 10 trade deadline approaching, the Raiders have not discussed a possible Crosby deal with any other club this season.
That represents a change from last year's deadline, when Crosby was a prominent subject of trade speculation and publicly questioned his future in Las Vegas. Sources told ESPN that he now hopes to spend the rest of his career with the Raiders, an outcome the team also wants.
Another team could still contact Las Vegas before the deadline to ask about acquiring Crosby. No such inquiries have occurred, according to the sources, and any approach is not expected to alter the Raiders' position. Still, the source report noted that major trades involving the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears in the past week illustrated how plans can change.
Crosby's future had already taken an unexpected turn during the offseason. The Baltimore Ravens agreed to send two first-round draft picks to the Raiders for him, but the deal was nullified after he failed his physical in Baltimore. He remains central to Las Vegas' efforts to put together the strongest season possible.
The Raiders enter their Sunday game against the New York Jets in New Jersey with a 3-4 record. A victory would give them a chance to reach .500 in November for the first time since 2020, when they were 3-3. Las Vegas is looking to Crosby to help deliver that result.
The team is also maintaining its commitment to starting quarterback Kirk Cousins despite its struggles following a 3-0 start. The Raiders do not currently consider him responsible for the downturn. Through seven games, Cousins leads the NFL with 16 touchdown passes, ranks third with 1,817 passing yards and has thrown five interceptions.
Sources told ESPN that Las Vegas wants a veteran quarterback for the difficult defensive matchups ahead. After the Jets, the Raiders visit the 49ers, host the Seahawks and travel to face the Denver Broncos and Cleveland Browns before their Week 13 bye.
Following that break, Las Vegas has consecutive home games against the Los Angeles Chargers, Broncos and Tennessee Titans. That stretch could offer an opportunity to turn to first overall draft pick Fernando Mendoza. For now, however, the Raiders intend to keep playing Cousins as long as possible, with their preferred outcome being that he starts through the end of the season.
