Strava has announced a set of updates designed to make it easier to find, plan and navigate routes for outdoor activities, covering runs, walks, hikes and rides.
The announcement, dated 2026-10-22, follows a similar one made the previous week, when the exercise-tracking platform expanded its strength training offering with coach-designed guided workouts that include live set and rep tracking.
The first change is to search. Users can open the Maps tab and look up route names or points of interest. Strava says people can describe places in their own words and receive results matched to what they are looking for.
The company is also expanding and better curating its route inventory. The aim is to give users a wider range of options to choose from before they leave home.
Route cards have been redesigned as well. They now draw on photos and activity data from Strava users, which the company says should help people judge which route suits them.
Offline support is another focus. When a phone has no signal, saved routes appear on the home screen so users can still reach their destination. Users can also start and save a workout in Offline Mode, and the completed activity uploads once service returns.
Strava said subscribers will soon be able to use turn-by-turn audio directions. The feature is intended to let people "explore somewhere new with confidence" on walks, hikes or runs.
Route details are also set to grow, with community-generated tags and descriptions that point out features of interest along the way. In addition, Strava is bringing route discovery to the web, so users will be able to browse routes and explore maps from a browser.
Strava has published further information about the announcements on its own site.
