Bethesda Game Studios has officially disclosed the subtitle and visual identity for the upcoming entry in its flagship role-playing series. The sixth installment in the franchise will be known as Sentinel. This announcement accompanied a new logo reveal and was presented through a video message delivered by Todd Howard, the veteran director who has overseen the series for many years. The news arrived as part of the studio's celebration of its 40th anniversary on Tuesday.

Sentinel serves as the direct successor to Skyrim, which was released in 2011 and remains the most played title in the franchise's history. The setting for the new game is a city located within the Hammerfell province on the continent of Tamriel. Geographically, Hammerfell is situated west of Cyrodiil, the region featured in the 2006 installment Oblivion, and southwest of the Skyrim region. This placement continues the series' tradition of exploring distinct areas of the shared world.

The development history of this title has been a subject of significant interest among fans. The game was initially announced during Bethesda's presentation at E3 in 2018. Active production commenced in 2023, following the launch of the studio's previous major release, Starfield. In 2021, Howard indicated that the release timeline might extend to 15 or 17 years after the launch of Skyrim. This earlier estimate suggests that players may still be several years away from experiencing the new adventure.

In other gaming news, the industry is preparing for the imminent arrival of Grand Theft Auto VI. Digital pre-loading for the title is scheduled to begin on November 10. Owners of the PlayStation 5 will be able to start the process at midnight local time, while Xbox Series X and S users can begin at midnight GMT. Depending on the specific device, the pre-load file is expected to require up to 212 gigabytes of storage space.

Retailers will begin selling physical code-in-box versions of the game for both console platforms starting November 12. Rockstar Games has also announced that a digital cover art poster and a map of the game's setting, Leonida, will be available as a free download on their website on November 29. A physical double-sided version of this promotional material is planned for release shortly after the game launches.

HoYoverse has set a release date of December 4 for Petit Planet, a cozy life simulation game with a galactic theme. In the title, players take on the role of Planet Tenders who travel to the Starsea on the back of a spirit that responds to human wishes. The gameplay involves interacting with neighbors who visit to share stories, as well as exploring various islets and participating in games and auctions at the Galactic Bazaar.

The game will support cross-platform play on PC, iOS, and Android devices. A version for the Nintendo Switch 2 is also confirmed for release in 2027. To coincide with the launch, HoYoverse is hosting a series of events, including a pre-registration prize drawing and a team event that offers an exclusive clothing item.

The Borderlands franchise has reached a significant milestone, surpassing 100 million units sold across all titles. Borderlands 4, which launched in September 2025, has been supported by continuous content updates. Over the past year, Gearbox has added two story packs, five bounty packs, two new vault hunters, two free raid boss encounters, and the Takedown endgame raid.

Starting November 6, players will be able to participate in an event called The Hunt. This community fundraising initiative previously raised nearly 119,000 dollars for St. Jude's Children Research Hospital. Both 2K Foundations and Gearbox have committed to matching every dollar donated up to the amount of the previous record. All titles in the franchise are currently on sale, with Borderlands 4 available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
