The Weeknd has established a new benchmark in live music history by becoming the highest-grossing male artist of all time. The record was secured as his “After Hours Til Dawn” stadium tour concluded its final performance at TM Stadium National in Kuala Lumpur. The total gross for the entire tour exceeded $1.3 billion, a figure that places him ahead of previous leaders in the male category.
While the music industry lacks an official touring chart comparable to Luminate for recorded music, the tally has been confirmed by Live Nation, the tour's promoter. This achievement makes the Weeknd the third-highest-grossing touring artist in history overall. Only Taylor Swift’s “Eras” tour, which earned over $2 billion, and Coldplay’s “Music of the Spheres,” which surpassed $1.5 billion, have generated higher totals. The previous record for a male artist was held by Elton John’s “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour, which grossed more than $939 million.
The final show in Kuala Lumpur marked the end of the Weeknd’s 17-date stadium leg across Asia this fall. The tour initially announced 11 dates for the region, but demand led to an expansion to 17 performances. This expansion included three nights in Bangkok, four nights in Hong Kong, and multiple shows in every other market on the itinerary.
Since launching in July 2022, the “After Hours Til Dawn” tour has been a massive global undertaking. The artist performed 176 shows across 67 cities, 30 countries, and five continents. These performances sold more than 9 million tickets, contributing to the historic $1.3 billion gross.
The tour spanned four years, with legs that covered North America, Europe, the UK, Latin America, Australia, and Asia. The Weeknd returned to nearly every territory for additional runs. In 2026 alone, the tour sold more than 3 million tickets and generated over $500 million in revenue, according to the official announcement.
Throughout the tour, the artist maintained a significant focus on charitable giving. To date, he has donated $8.5 million to the XO Humanitarian Fund and Global Citizen. These contributions support global hunger relief efforts and improve access to quality education for children around the world.
In the current year, an additional $3 million has been raised specifically for the United Nations World Food Programme and Global Citizen. This year’s support for Global Citizen will help fund a new campaign aimed at breaking down barriers that women and girls face in health, education, and economic opportunity.
