Northeast Ohio is settling into a calm, mild stretch of weather as October winds down. Forecasters with the News 5 Power of 5 Weather Team say partly cloudy skies will cover the region Sunday evening and overnight, which should keep temperatures from dropping too far.
Most locations are expected to see overnight lows in the mid 40s. Some spots could slip into the lower 40s by early Monday morning.
Monday looks like a repeat of recent conditions, with another warm and dry day ahead. Highs are forecast to reach the upper 60s and even the lower 70s under partly cloudy skies, a pleasant start to the work week.
The Snowbelt region, which covers Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula Counties, has had some of the coolest mornings of the past few days. A few extra clouds should keep temperatures slightly warmer there, though some inland areas could still see readings in the upper 30s early Monday. Afternoon highs in the region are expected to climb into the mid to upper 60s.
Rain is not expected to return right away. Chances look to hold off until at least Thursday, and even then the storm system is currently forecast to stay mostly north of Northeast Ohio.
The pattern is set to turn wetter by Halloween weekend. Forecasters said it is too early to know whether the rain will hold off until after trick-or-treating, but next Sunday and Monday will likely be rainy based on the current outlook. The weather team encouraged viewers to check back for an updated Halloween forecast.
The five-day outlook starts with a few more clouds on Monday and a high near 70. Tuesday should be partly cloudy and seasonable with a high of 63. Wednesday brings partly sunny and warmer conditions, with a high of 69.
Thursday and Friday are both forecast to be partly sunny with a chance for rain. Highs are expected to reach 74 on Thursday and 73 on Friday.
