Eastern Michigan looks to defend home turf against in-state rival Central Michigan when the two programs meet Wednesday night at Ford Field in Detroit in a key Mid-American Conference matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
The Eagles have struggled to find consistency this fall, entering the game at 3-5 overall and 2-5 in conference play, and they need a win at home to salvage their MAC campaign. Central Michigan comes in at 3-4 overall and 2-3 in the league, with both teams trying to build momentum as the season moves into November.
Quarterback questions hang over both sidelines. Central Michigan will be without injured starter Angel Flores and turns to backup Jadyn Glasser under center. Eastern Michigan's Noah Kim missed the Eagles' most recent game with an undisclosed injury, and his status for Wednesday night remains uncertain.
The latest odds list Eastern Michigan as a 1.5-point favorite, with the over/under set at 44.5 points. That total has come down three points from where it opened. Central Michigan has gone 4-4 against the spread this season, while Eastern Michigan is 3-5 against the number.
The projection model at SportsLine, which simulates every FBS game 10,000 times, is leaning toward the Over on that total. Central Michigan's most recent game went over the number, and three of the Chippewas' last five games have finished Over the total.
The model does not expect a big statistical night from Glasser. Filling in for Flores, the Central Michigan backup is projected to throw for under 185 yards and fewer than two touchdowns in his start.
Even so, both defenses have been susceptible to giving up points this season, and the model projects 50 combined points in the game, with the Over cashing in 63 percent of simulations. The projected production from both offenses was enough for the model to make a confident call on the total despite the line moving down from its opener.
Beyond the total, the model also indicates that one side of the spread hits in more than 50 percent of simulations, and its spread and money-line picks are posted at SportsLine. It entered Week 10 on an 80-77 run on its top-rated college football picks.
