The Choosing Life Forum has filed a complaint with Shin Bet chief David Zini seeking an investigation into an application it alleges senior Ra'am activists used to monitor voter participation during the 2026 election. The forum, which represents bereaved families and victims of terrorism, asked investigators to examine how the system was developed, who operated it and what happened to the information it gathered.
The application, named Aswatcom, allegedly allowed activists to follow turnout at individual polling stations in real time. According to the forum's complaint, it also served as a tool for managing the party's election-day operations. The allegations concern its use during the October 27 vote.
The forum said the application was created on September 15, approximately six weeks before the election, and registered more than 500 downloads on Google Play. Its complaint identified the application's alleged turnout-monitoring functions and the involvement of senior party activists as matters requiring investigation by Zini.
The complaint also alleged that developers in Ramallah who had ties to the Palestinian Authority helped create the system. The forum raised concerns that their involvement may have given them access to information about Israeli voters. It sought an investigation into the entities responsible for commissioning, financing and developing the application, alongside inquiries into its election-day use.
As part of its request for a criminal investigation, the forum called for the application's servers, databases and activity logs to be seized and preserved. It also asked investigators to identify and trace the activists who used the system on election day. Those demands covered both the application's technical records and the people involved in operating it.
The forum requested a further examination of whether Ra'am activists had run the system from inside polling stations. It also wanted investigators to establish which party officials were involved in its operation and where the collected information had been transferred.
In its statement, the forum framed the complaint as a matter of election integrity and public accountability. It said the Israeli public was entitled to elections conducted lawfully, without prohibited surveillance or improper foreign involvement. "We will not allow the integrity of the elections to be compromised or swept under the rug," the forum said.
