Lego has unveiled a new holiday marketing initiative that brings together major figures from the entertainment industry. The campaign is helmed by Michael Gracey, the filmmaker known for directing The Greatest Showman and Better Man. The central element of the promotion is a seventy-four second commercial set to the 2000 hit song One More Time by the French electronic duo Daft Punk.

The commercial transports viewers into a fantastical Lego workshop. Inside this setting, characters from various corners of the toy maker's extensive universe collaborate to construct the ideal holiday gift. The ensemble cast includes Marvel superheroes such as Thor, Doctor Doom, and Mystique. The group is joined by the beloved alien E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, as well as Derpy Tiger from the Netflix series KPop Demon Hunters. Daft Punk also make an appearance in the spot.

Michael Gracey discussed the creative vision behind the advertisement in a statement. He expressed enthusiasm for the concept of a secret door leading to an unknown world, noting that with Lego bricks, that world could be anything. The director explained that the team chose to tell the story through the perspective of a single small Lego brick. This brick travels through the extraordinary workshop, passing from one character to the next as the narrative unfolds.

This holiday campaign follows closely on the heels of a significant new partnership between Lego and Daft Punk. The collaboration, which was announced on October 22, covers products, content, and live experiences. A key component of this partnership is an upcoming Lego Ideas set that recreates the duo's iconic pyramid stage from their 2007 Alive tour.

The pyramid stage model was originally submitted by a father and son team from Luxembourg. This fan-designed creation has been approved for development, and further details regarding the set are expected to be revealed in 2027. The timing of the holiday commercial highlights the momentum behind this new alliance between the toy giant and the electronic music group.

The latest campaign also exemplifies Lego's broader strategy of investing in entertainment-driven collaborations. In August of this year, the company released a 1,478 piece set inspired by the television series The X-Files. To celebrate the release of that set, Gillian Anderson, who played the character Dana Scully in the original sci-fi show, returned for a promotional short film.

By integrating popular culture icons into its holiday messaging, Lego continues to expand its reach beyond traditional toy demographics. The combination of music, film, and television characters in a single narrative reflects the brand's ongoing commitment to storytelling. This approach aims to engage audiences by connecting the tactile experience of building with the familiar narratives they already love.

The commercial serves as the centerpiece of this year's festive efforts for the brand. It showcases the versatility of the Lego building system by allowing diverse characters to interact within a single cohesive scene. The use of a well-known musical track from the early 2000s also serves to evoke nostalgia for a new generation of fans and collectors.
