The Philadelphia Eagles will try to halt a five-game losing streak when they visit the Washington Commanders in an NFC East showdown on Sunday Night Football. Philadelphia enters off a 38-21 defeat to the Cowboys on Monday Night Football, while Washington was last on the field Oct. 19, falling 23-17 to the 49ers.
The Eagles sit at 2-5 and third in the division, with a 1-2 record away from home this season. The Commanders, at 1-4-1, occupy fourth place in the NFC East and have gone 1-1-1 at home.
Both squads are missing key players for the rest of the year. Washington wide receiver Terry McLaurin is done with a knee injury, and Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts is out with blood clots.
Kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Md. Washington holds a 91-88-5 edge in the all-time series, though Philadelphia has taken three of the last four meetings between the rivals.
The latest odds list Washington as a 6-point favorite, with the over/under for total points set at 40.5. SportsLine's projection model, which runs every NFL game through 10,000 simulations, has weighed in on the matchup.
The model has produced more than $5,000 in profit for $100 players on its top-rated NFL picks since its inception, and it entered Week 8 of the 2026 season on a 58-51 run with top-rated selections dating back to 2024.
After simulating Eagles vs. Commanders 10,000 times, the model is backing the Over on 40.5 points. The Over has cashed in eight of the last 10 head-to-head meetings, including a 46-point combined effort when the teams met in Philadelphia on Sept. 13. It has also hit in five of Philadelphia's last nine games and eight of Washington's last 10.
Philadelphia's offense runs through Saquon Barkley, who exited Monday's game with a back issue but is expected to be available Sunday. Through five games, the running back has 43 carries for 244 yards and a touchdown. Washington is led by quarterback Jayden Daniels, who in four starts has completed 64.7% of his passes for 759 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions, while adding 213 rushing yards and two scores on 25 attempts.
The model projects 43 combined points, with the Over hitting in 55% of simulations. It also found one side of the spread covering in more than 50% of its runs, a pick available at SportsLine.
