The Florida Highway Patrol has arrested a man who evaded authorities for more than two years after a deadly 2024 crash in Osceola County. Troopers took Jean S. Dorisca, 48, into custody in Boca Raton on Thursday, according to the agency.

Dorisca was held on an Osceola County felony warrant charging him with three counts of vehicular homicide. FHP said he had been listed among its most wanted fugitives after he avoided arrest following the July 16, 2024, collision.

The crash took place on State Road 60 near the Polk-Osceola County line. Investigators say Dorisca attempted to pass a semi-truck in a designated no-passing zone and struck oncoming traffic. Three people died in the collision, among them Dorisca's mother.

FHP said troopers found Dorisca at a home in Boca Raton on Wednesday. They took him into custody the following day. He was then transported to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Detention Center, where he was booked on the outstanding warrant.

Dorisca remains in custody while he awaits extradition to Osceola County. If convicted on the three vehicular homicide counts, he could face up to 45 years in Florida state prison, the agency said.

FHP identified Dorisca as a Haitian national and a lawful permanent resident of the United States. The agency added that the arrest could lead to the revocation of his permanent resident status.

Dave Kerner, executive director of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, credited the agency's Criminal Alien Apprehension Team for the arrest. "For more than two years, this fugitive evaded accountability for a crash that claimed the lives of three innocent motorists," Kerner said. He added that Dorisca "will now face the criminal charges associated with this tragic crash."

Kerner said the arrest reflects FHP's "unwavering commitment to protecting Florida's communities by locating and apprehending dangerous fugitives who threaten public safety and attempt to evade justice."
