President Donald Trump is set to appear on Sunday's edition of "60 Minutes," marking his first in-depth interview since Republicans suffered sweeping losses in Tuesday's midterm elections.
The president sat down with CBS News correspondent Ross Douthat on Friday for the pre-taped conversation, which is scheduled to air Nov. 8. CBS News sources confirmed the plans to CNN, and the White House's Friday schedule listed a pre-taped interview at 10:30 a.m. ET.
For viewers without cable, the interview can be streamed live on Paramount+ Premium, while Essential subscribers will be able to watch the full episode on demand beginning Monday, Nov. 9. CBS live streams are also available through services such as DirecTV and Hulu+ Live TV. The newsmagazine airs Sundays at 7 p.m. ET on CBS.
The appearance comes only days after Democrats seized control of both the House and Senate, a result widely seen as a major blow to Trump's second-term agenda. Democrats flipped seats in traditionally Republican strongholds, with voters voicing growing frustration over the cost of living and the administration's war with Iran.
Douthat, a longtime conservative columnist for The New York Times who joined "60 Minutes" earlier this year, has been a frequent critic of the president. In a column published earlier this week, he described the midterm results as a failure of the "New Right." The sit-down ranks among his highest-profile assignments since joining the newsmagazine as part of its revamped correspondent lineup.
Trump has a complicated history with the program. He sued CBS and its parent company over the editing of a 2024 interview with his then-presidential opponent Kamala Harris, a dispute that ended with Paramount agreeing to a $16 million settlement in 2025.
Since Skydance's takeover of Paramount, CBS News has gone through a sweeping leadership overhaul under editor-in-chief Bari Weiss. The shake-up has included the departure of several longtime "60 Minutes" journalists and the appointment of Nick Bilton as executive producer.
The president most recently appeared on the newsmagazine in April, when a contentious exchange with correspondent Norah O'Donnell ended with Trump calling her a "disgrace." Sunday's interview will test whether his return to the program signals a thaw in that strained relationship.
