New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson provided an update on his health condition on Friday, revealing that he recently suffered a medical emergency involving a series of unexplained neurological symptoms. The 24-year-old athlete stated in a social media post that while the specific cause of the issue remains unknown and unexplainable, recent medical tests have returned positive and reassuring results.
Henderson explained that the symptoms have notably affected his strength, coordination, and certain physical functions. He emphasized that his primary focus is now on recovery, noting that he is working closely with specialists and physical therapists to restore his full capabilities. The running back added that his long-term well-being is his foremost priority as he commits to doing everything necessary to return to peak health.
Neither Henderson nor the Patriots organization has disclosed further specific details regarding the medical diagnosis. The lack of additional information has left fans and analysts awaiting more clarity on the nature of the condition, though the initial reassurance from test results offers some optimism for his return to the field.
The running back has been absent from practice since October 29, when he was placed on the injury report with an illness designation. Prior to that date, he had participated in two practices following the team's loss to the Chicago Bears on October 22. Henderson also missed the Patriots' victory over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, continuing his absence from active game action.
In his statement, Henderson expressed deep gratitude to his wife, family, and loved ones for their support. He also thanked the New England Patriots organization, his agent, medical team, and teammates for their prayers, encouragement, and assistance during this challenging period.
This setback comes during a season where Henderson has shown significant production. In six games this year, he has rushed for 203 yards on 52 carries, averaging 3.9 yards per attempt, while scoring one touchdown. He has also contributed on the receiving end, catching five passes for 45 yards.
Henderson, a second-round draft pick in 2025 out of Ohio State, made a strong impression during his rookie campaign last year. He played in every regular-season game, accumulating 911 rushing yards on 180 carries for an average of 5.1 yards per carry. Additionally, he scored nine rushing touchdowns.
His receiving stats from the previous season were also impressive, as he hauled in 35 receptions for 221 yards and a touchdown. His ability to contribute both as a runner and a receiver made him a versatile asset for the Patriots, making his current recovery efforts a focal point for the team's offensive strategy going forward.
As Henderson continues his rehabilitation process, the Patriots will likely monitor his progress closely to determine the timeline for his return. The team has not announced a specific date for his reinstatement, leaving the focus squarely on his medical team's guidance and his physical response to therapy.
