The schedule for multi-team events in men's college basketball continues to evolve, demonstrating that stability is rare in the current sports landscape. Now in their third year, Players Era events remain the most impactful tournaments on the circuit. However, the 2026 season marks a significant shift in structure as the previously confusing 18-team format has been replaced by two distinct competitions. A 16-team Players Era event and a separate eight-team Players Era event will now take place in consecutive weeks, both utilizing traditional bracket-style structures that are easier for fans to follow.

While the Players Era simplifies its approach, the Battle 4 Atlantis has moved in a different direction. Although it retains an eight-team field, the event has abandoned the conventional bracket for a more complex setup involving two separate four-team pools. The Signature Series features four pre-determined matchups between Virginia, Marquette, Texas A&M, and Xavier without a bracket structure. The Championship Bracket functions as a standard four-team tournament where the winner of Memphis versus Penn State faces the winner of Wake Forest versus Mississippi State, with no team playing a third game. Due to this unorthodox configuration, the Battle 4 Atlantis does not rank among the top five bracket-style events this season.

The top-ranked event is the Players Era 16, scheduled for November 24 through 28 in Las Vegas. This tournament features 14 teams from high-major conferences along with Pac-12 powers Gonzaga and San Diego State. Nine of the 16 teams are ranked in the preseason AP Top 25, and all teams except Kansas State started the season in the top 100 on KenPom.com. The bracket includes potential second-round matchups such as Miami versus Michigan and Alabama versus Gonzaga. Teams are guaranteed three games, and the winners of the two eight-team brackets will compete in a championship game on Saturday, November 28. An additional one million dollars in prize money is available for teams that win four games.

Coming in second is the Players Era 8, which takes place from November 17 to 19, also in Las Vegas. This event is headlined by preseason No. 1 Florida and includes Big 12 programs Houston and Kansas. The bracket style allows for potential semifinals between Houston and Florida, or Kansas and Auburn. While some first-round games may result in blowouts, the tournament serves as a solid undercard to the larger event. A title game between Florida and Kansas would be particularly captivating, though an all-Big 12 championship between Kansas and Houston is also a possibility.

The Maui Invitational ranks third on the list, scheduled for November 23 to 25 in Lahaina, Hawaii. Although the Players Era has drawn away many top teams in recent years, this year's field is stronger than last year's, which saw only two teams advance to the NCAA Tournament. Arizona and a strong BYU team headline the bracket, offering the potential for interesting matchups. A first-round game between VCU and Providence is expected to be compelling as both teams seek to build at-large cases for the NCAA Tournament.

The Rady Children's Invitational holds the fourth spot, taking place November 26 and 27 in San Diego. This four-team bracket-style event features a potential title game showdown between Texas and UCLA. Texas has bolstered its roster for coach Sean Miller's second season with five-star freshmen Marcus Spears Jr. and Austin Goosby, as well as star transfers David Punch and Isaiah Johnson. UCLA, which defeated Arizona on the season's opening night, added Texas Tech transfer Jaylen Petty and European import Nikola Kusturica to its roster, positioning the Bruins as a contender in the Big Ten.

Rounding out the top five is the Baha Mar Hoops Bahamas Championship, scheduled for November 19 and 20 in Nassau, Bahamas. This four-team event stands out for maintaining a true tournament format at a time when many other events have shifted to set matchups. The bracket features NC State facing Murray State, and Wisconsin playing Seton Hall. The winner of the NC State and Murray State game will face either Seton Hall or Wisconsin in the title game. Murray State aims to return to the NCAA Tournament after a 21-12 season, while Wisconsin, the tournament's top brand, will have a difficult task against either opponent.
