Post Malone is currently generating buzz with the release of a pre pre release single, a move that has drawn comparisons to his Grammy nominated album Beerbongs & Bentleys. According to the Dallas Observer, the Grapevine raised artist is preparing for the arrival of The Eternal Buzz, an album scheduled for release sometime in 2027. The upcoming project was recorded in Nashville and serves as the follow up to his 2024 country debut, F 1 Trillion. While Malone has shared fifteen track titles, he has not yet revealed any featured artists.
The initial song clip, which is tagged with the hashtag badmood, has sparked debate among critics. Some observers note that the new sound is a significant departure from the pop era established by Beerbongs & Bentleys. The publication argues that this shift marks a return to a different sonic identity, contrasting the new material with the R&B focused tracks that defined his earlier career. During that earlier period, Malone was known for collaborations and playlists characterized by specific aesthetics, a stark difference from his current country oriented work.
The ranking begins with AUSTIN, released in 2023, which sits at number seven. The album is described as an easy listen that offers an honest look into the artist's life following the birth of his daughter. However, its formulaic rhythms make it easily forgettable, often playing in the background of retail spaces without leaving a lasting impression. It is considered good, but not great.
Number six is F 1 Trillion, the 2024 country album. While it features exceptional collaborations with country legends such as Luke Combs, Dolly Parton, and Chris Stapleton, the record is criticized for oversaturating the track list with guest stars. Only twelve of the twenty seven songs feature no other artists, leading to a sense that Malone is merely a feature on his own record. The album also marks the beginning of a high profile friendship with Jelly Roll.
Beerbongs & Bentleys takes the number five spot. Released in 2018, this record earned the artist his first Recording Academy nominations. It is praised for its tight production and lack of missteps, catapulting him from a radio regular to a global superstar with hits like Rockstar and Psycho.
At number four is Twelve Carat Toothache, released in 2022. This album marked a new era for the Grapevine native, moving away from surface level lyrics about cars and money to explore the dark realities of fame and isolation during the pandemic. It is considered one of his most painful and strong works.
August 26, his debut album from 2016, is ranked number three. Though recently added to streaming services, it remains a foundational piece of his career. The record captures the moment a teenager from Texas successfully launched a global career through self produced SoundCloud music.
Hollywood's Bleeding is ranked number two and is described as objectively his best album. It combines fun, palatable songs with hip hop tinged tracks and memorable collaborations with artists like Halsey and Ozzy Osbourne. The record is noted for having very few skips and is highlighted for the omnipresence of the single Circles.
Finally, Stoney takes the number one spot. Released in 2016 when Malone was twenty one, this album is subjectively his best. Despite lacking cohesive production and a linear vision, its adventurous nature is crucial to his evolution. The inclusion of hits like White Iverson and Congratulations cements its status as a vital record in his discography.
