Roku’s first OLED TV delivers sharp and smooth visuals for both live sports and recorded content. Whether watching an NFL game on DirecTV or tuning into MLB soccer, the 120-Hz refresh rate ensures a seamless viewing experience. For gaming, the low-latency game mode automatically activates, offering crisp and vivid visuals with fast response times and zero blur, from the cartoonish action of Cuphead to the colorful racing of Burnout: Paradise.

The Roku Pro Series produces vibrant, richly detailed color, though with less of the “pop” seen on higher-end OLED models. This is partly due to the panel’s limited brightness, but the overall color performance remains impressive. A notable Roku innovation, Smart Picture Max, automatically detects the type of content being watched and adjusts display settings accordingly, enhancing the viewing experience without manual intervention.

Smart Picture Max disables motion-smoothing for most TV shows and movies, avoiding the dreaded soap-opera effect. This feature gives the Pro Series an advantage over most OLEDs, which require manual adjustments to disable motion-smoothing. However, Dolby Vision content overrides Smart Picture Max, leaving motion-smoothing enabled, though Roku makes it easy to modify this and other picture settings with just a few clicks.

The speakers on the Roku Pro Series produce plenty of volume but can get harsh and shrill at higher levels, making a soundbar a welcome addition for a more immersive audio experience. Despite these minor drawbacks, the Roku remote, interface, and automated image adjustments contribute to a splendid user experience. Watch for the next sale and you’ll feel like you’re getting a steal for this OLED model.
