Eight matches into the new Serie A season, Inter remain at the top of CBS Sports' power rankings as they defend the Scudetto they won in 2025-2026. Their city rivals AC Milan, who overhauled their coaching staff and club leadership after a disappointing end to last season, sit fifth. Former Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim now leads that project, and American forward Christian Pulisic has finally started scoring.

Coaching changes have defined the early weeks. Six clubs replaced their managers over the summer, including Napoli, where Antonio Conte left after two seasons and was succeeded by Massimiliano Allegri, who previously managed both Milan and Juventus. Four more managers have since lost their jobs. Fiorentina dismissed Fabio Grosso after three games and brought back Paolo Vanoli, while Bologna removed Domenico Tedesco after four matches and turned to Raffaele Palladino. Parma parted ways with Carlos Cuesta during the international break and hired Alberto Gilardino, and Venezia sacked Giovanni Stroppa after six straight defeats, replacing him with Davide Nicola.

Inter staged another late comeback, beating Fiorentina at San Siro with two goals in stoppage time, one from Marcus Thuram and a crucial penalty from Piotr Zielinski. The pattern of conceding first is becoming a concern, though. Roma are second after a 3-3 draw with Napoli. Napoli led 2-0, Roma fought back to level, Napoli went ahead again, and Roma found a last-minute equalizer. It followed two straight wins for Gian Piero Gasperini's side across the Champions League and Serie A.

Como are third after three wins in a single week, even without Nico Paz and Mattia Liberali against Sassuolo. Cesc Fabregas's team is seen as a potential title challenger, and Lazio, fourth, sit level with Inter at the top of the standings.

Pulisic's return to scoring is welcome news for Milan, as the American started the season slowly because of an injury suffered in pre-season. He now appears to be back in good physical condition. Napoli climbed one place to sixth, helped by a brace from Scott McTominay against Roma, though Allegri is still dealing with a difficult start. Frosinone also rose one spot to seventh, having taken 14 points from eight matches and lost only twice. They drew 4-4 away at Maurizio Sarri's Atalanta over the weekend.

Juventus moved up one place to eighth. Luciano Spalletti is dealing with injuries and striker problems, but the win at Lecce brought a first goal of the season from Weston McKennie. Atalanta fell three places to ninth, and Sarri may be under threat. If the team does not get a positive result against Fiorentina this week, the club could have another coach for the next home game, as the hierarchy is questioning his project.

In the middle of the table, Cagliari are tenth after two straight losses following a positive start, and Fiorentina are 11th despite the defeat at Inter. Bologna slipped to 12th even after winning at Cagliari, and Palladino needs improvement if the club wants a top-ten finish. Torino, 13th, have won three in a row under Ignazio Abate. Sassuolo, 14th, have lost three of their last four despite playing well, and Genoa, 15th, under Daniele De Rossi, are finally collecting points after a poor start.

Udinese dropped two places to 16th after six consecutive defeats, which puts Kosta Runjaic's position in question. Monza are 17th under Ivan Juric, who is seeing week-on-week progress. Lecce, 18th, can still hope to avoid relegation under Eusebio Di Francesco. Venezia are 19th, having beaten Napoli at home for the first time since Nicola arrived, and Parma close the rankings in 20th.
