The Biddeford, Maine, office of Republican Sen. Susan Collins was vandalized on Monday night, the second time in roughly a month that the location has been targeted, Collins' chief of staff told Fox News.
According to the senator's office, the vandals dumped a bucket of red paint in front of the building and wrote the words "BLOOD on her HANDS" in crimson on the sidewalk outside. The incident came on the eve of Election Day, as Collins faces a challenge for her U.S. Senate seat.
"This is another incident in a series and the second attempt at our Biddeford office to intimidate the Senator and her staff," Collins' chief of staff, Katie Brown, told Fox News' Alexis McAdams. "These tactics are disturbing, but not effective. Our staff is undeterred and on the job."
The Biddeford office sits near the scene of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer-involved shooting in July, in which a law enforcement officer shot and killed Johan Sebastián Guerrero, a 26-year-old Colombian national. Days after that shooting, protesters pushed through the office's front door while chanting "vote her out."
In September, vandals spray-painted an epithet reading "Trump whore" in red on the office door. Monday's paint dumping and sidewalk message marked the second attack on the same location since then.
Collins' Democratic challenger, former state Sen. Troy Jackson, condemned the latest vandalism in a statement shared with Fox News Digital. "There's no place for this in Maine. Vandalism and intimidation are wrong, full stop," Jackson said. "Senator Collins and her staff should be able to do their jobs without anyone defacing their office, and I condemn whoever did this."
Jackson had issued a similar condemnation after the September incident, also stating at the time that Collins and her staff should be able to work without anyone defacing their office.
Biddeford police are investigating the vandalism, according to Collins' campaign. The campaigns for both Collins and Jackson did not immediately respond to requests for further comment.
