Tallahassee police arrested a 15-year-old suspect on Sunday night in connection with a shooting near Florida A&M University's Bragg Memorial Stadium that left 12 people injured on Saturday.

The teen faces 11 counts of attempted second-degree murder, along with a charge of possession of a firearm by a delinquent, according to the Tallahassee Police Department.

Chief of Police Lawrence Revell addressed the arrest in a statement released Monday morning. "What should have been a weekend of celebration in our community instead became a night of fear and violence for the victims and their families," he said. "While this arrest marks a significant step forward, our work is far from over."

The gunfire broke out at about 8 p.m. ET on Saturday near Perry and Manatee streets. Eleven people suffered gunshot wounds, and a twelfth person hurt an ankle while trying to flee. Police have not yet said how many shooters fired or how involved the arrested teen was.

In a video update posted to X, Revell said at least five victims had been released from the hospital by Sunday night. Six others remained hospitalized at that point, and one of them was in critical condition.

Detectives believe a fight preceded the shooting and that it grew out of a dispute between people who knew each other. Police said none of the 12 victims appear to have been the intended targets.

Officers who arrived Saturday evening gave medical aid to victims before the perimeter was fully secured. Police said sworn and civilian personnel, including detectives, crime analysts and victim advocates, have worked around the clock to process the scene and identify those involved. Officials credited the community for speeding up the case, pointing to a large number of tips and digital evidence submitted publicly in the hours after the shooting.

The investigation is active and ongoing, and police said more arrests are possible as detectives review physical evidence, follow leads and work to establish the full sequence of events. "We will determine what happened, identify those responsible, and get answers for all of the victims, their families and everyone impacted by this tragedy," Revell wrote in a Sunday statement.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the department's dedicated tip line at 850-891-4610 or to upload photos and video through the agency's online portal. "We need our community's help," Revell said. "No detail is too small, and no piece of information should go unreported."
