North Texas residents looking to fill their calendars have plenty of options this week, whether they prefer to plan ahead or decide at the last minute. The coming days bring a wide mix of live music, festivals, art, sports and holiday attractions across Plano, Frisco, The Colony and surrounding communities.
The biggest draw for sports fans is the Pickleball World Championships, which opened Monday, Nov. 2, and runs through Sunday, Nov. 8, at Brookhaven Country Club in Farmers Branch. The weeklong event pairs amateur and professional competition with clinics, celebrity games, live music, the latest pickleball gear and activities for fans of all ages.
Holiday shopping season gets an early start Wednesday, Nov. 4, when the Avara Holiday Pop-up Shop opens at the historic Bingham Estate in McKinney. The limited-time shop, open through Nov. 8, features the brand's clothing and accessories. Visitors can also join free open-play mahjong hosted by Bam Bird on Thursday and Friday, or book a $10 family photo mini session over the weekend.
Rock fans can head to the Lexus Box Garden at Legacy Hall in Plano on Thursday, Nov. 5, for a show by Quiet Riot, the hard-rock band behind hits such as "Cum On Feel the Noize" and "Metal Health." The concert promises a high-energy night of classic rock favorites.
On Friday, Nov. 6, and Saturday, Nov. 7, the 8th Annual Merry Market takes over 3R's Ranch in Prosper. Shoppers can browse handmade gifts, boutique clothing, home decor and gourmet treats from local vendors in a festive market setting.
Saturday, Nov. 7, is especially busy. The Plano Food + Wine Festival brings bites, wines and entertainment to Legacy West for a lively afternoon. In Frisco, the Chalk the Park competition turns the pathways of Kaleidoscope Park into colorful, larger-than-life artworks, with visitors invited to watch the artists at work, meet the creatives behind the designs and see who takes home the prizes. Haggard Park in Plano hosts the 22nd annual Plano Archeology Fair, featuring Native American performances, flintknapping demonstrations and hands-on activities for children.
Also on Nov. 7, School of Rock The Colony marks its fifth anniversary with a community celebration offering live student performances, food trucks, local vendors and prize raffles, along with a chance to support the NTX Food Pantry. Film lovers, meanwhile, can catch the inaugural Addison Full Circle Film Festival on Nov. 7 and 8 at the Addison Performing Arts Centre, a new cultural event spotlighting independent filmmaking and creative storytelling from Texas-based filmmakers.
A more solemn display begins Nov. 7 at Oak Point Event Field in Plano, where Plano Flags of Honor 2026 runs through Nov. 14. More than 1,000 American flags will fill the field in a moving tribute to veterans and first responders, with each flag representing an individual honored for service and sacrifice.
Several attractions extend well beyond this week. The Light Park opens Nov. 6 at Riders Field in Frisco and runs through Jan. 3, transforming the ballpark into a mile-long drive-through experience with millions of twinkling holiday lights, elaborate illuminated displays and tunnels paired with music synchronized to the show.
And starting Nov. 7, the Crow Museum of Asian Art in Dallas presents "Twisted, Plaited, Sculpted: Collection of the Carl & Marilynn Thoma Foundation," on view through Oct. 17, 2027. The exhibition, the museum's first collaboration with the Dallas-based foundation, features 22 works by 17 Japanese artists and explores the versatility of bamboo through intricate basketry and abstract sculpture, including pieces by Living National Treasures Fujinuma Noboru and Fujitsuka Shosei.
