With the National Football League trade deadline set to expire on Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, the market has already seen significant activity. The Indianapolis Colts moved defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the San Francisco 49ers and guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks. Meanwhile, the Chicago Bears acquired defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans in a package that included two first-round draft picks. Quarterback J.J. McCarthy also moved to the New York Giants, while Jacoby Brissett joined the Baltimore Ravens.
As the window for transactions narrows, eight experts from ESPN and NFL Network have outlined realistic trade proposals. These suggestions aim to address specific team needs while offering fair compensation to both sides involved in the potential deals.
One prominent suggestion involves the Minnesota Vikings acquiring running back Jonathan Taylor from the Colts. In this scenario, Minnesota would send a 2027 second-round pick, a 2027 third-round pick, and two 2027 fifth-round picks to Indianapolis. The Vikings require Taylor's explosive ability to complement quarterback Kyler Murray, as their offense has struggled to generate points despite having elite receivers. The Colts, who are in a rebuilding phase, would gain substantial draft capital to aid their future roster construction.
The Chicago Bears are also targeted in a proposal involving cornerback Riq Woolen. The experts suggest Chicago send a 2027 fifth-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for the veteran defender. Woolen offers physical traits and ball-hawking abilities that fit the Bears' defensive scheme. For the Eagles, who signed Woolen to a one-year deal, this move would secure a late-round pick before he becomes a free agent in 2027.
Another deal sees the Kansas City Chiefs acquiring wide receiver Josh Downs from the Colts. The Chiefs would receive the receiver in exchange for a 2027 fourth-round pick. This trade addresses Kansas City's need for additional playmaking talent, while the Colts look to strengthen their draft position. Downs has expressed a desire to be moved, making this a likely candidate for a quick agreement.
The Los Angeles Rams are proposed to acquire wide receiver Dyami Brown from the Washington Commanders. The Rams would send a 2027 seventh-round pick to secure the deep threat. Although Brown averages 10.4 yards per reception, he stretches the field and provides better run blocking than current options. The Rams do not currently hold a 2027 seventh-round pick, as it was previously traded to the Ravens, which complicates the compensation structure.
Green Bay Packers fans might see a proposal involving running back Tony Pollard. The team would trade a 2027 fourth-round pick to the Tennessee Titans for Pollard. This addition would provide the Packers with a versatile back who can handle pass-catching duties, complementing Josh Jacobs. The Packers have an extra fourth-round pick from a previous trade with Dallas, making this a manageable move for a playoff-contending squad.
The Buffalo Bills are suggested to sign safety Jessie Bates III from the Atlanta Falcons. In return, the Bills would send a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 sixth-round pick. The Falcons have over $109 million in cap space for 2027, which could affect their compensatory pick status. This trade would fill a void in Buffalo's secondary following the release of C.J. Gardner-Johnson, while allowing Atlanta to manage its salary cap more flexibly.
Finally, the Jacksonville Jaguars are proposed to acquire defensive tackle Moro Ojomo from the Eagles. The Jaguars would send a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fourth-round pick for the interior lineman. This move is urgent for the Jaguars following a season-ending injury to DaVon Hamilton. The Eagles, who are 2-6, would gain valuable draft capital to offset the loss of a player who is a free agent after this season.
