The Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Tennessee Titans 43-36 in overtime in Week 8, producing a final score never previously recorded in the NFL's 107-year history. The result was the league's 1,098th distinct final score, a statistical first commonly known as a scorigami, and the third of the 2026 season.

Cincinnati needed a late comeback to make that finish possible. Tennessee held a 36-29 advantage with fewer than four minutes remaining, a score that would not have been unprecedented had it stood. Instead, Joe Burrow guided the Bengals on an 81-yard touchdown drive, finding Tee Higgins for an 18-yard scoring pass that tied the game with 1:17 remaining.

The Bengals received the ball first in overtime, and Burrow followed his tying drive with another touchdown possession. He completed all four of his passes for 51 yards before running nine yards for the decisive touchdown. Cincinnati's eventual 43-36 victory secured both the win and a new entry in the NFL's record of final scores.

Burrow's performance combined three interceptions with a rare collection of offensive accomplishments. He finished with 462 passing yards and five touchdown passes, adding the rushing touchdown in overtime. That made him only the second player in league history to record at least 450 passing yards, five touchdown throws and one rushing touchdown in a single game.

Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase were central to Cincinnati's passing attack, with each topping 140 receiving yards. Higgins also supplied the touchdown catch that erased Tennessee's seven-point advantage late in regulation, giving the Bengals the opportunity to carry their comeback into the extra period.

The unusual scoring sequence began taking shape in the third quarter. With the teams level at 21, Cincinnati recorded a safety to move ahead 23-21. Tennessee answered with a touchdown to take a 28-23 lead, before another Bengals touchdown put Cincinnati back in front, 29-28. The Bengals attempted a two-point conversion after that score but failed.

Neither franchise had been involved in a scorigami for several years. Cincinnati's previous such result came in 2022, when it beat Bill Belichick's New England Patriots 22-18. Tennessee's last appearance in a game with a previously unseen final score was its 45-26 victory over the Detroit Lions in 2020.

The Bengals-Titans result brought the 2026 season within one scorigami of the previous season's total of four. With each newly recorded result, another possible combination comes off the list of scores the NFL has yet to see.
