Detroit Restaurant Week is back. The promotion kicked off Monday, Nov. 2, and features special prix fixe menus at some of the area's best restaurants, with two dozen restaurants across metro Detroit participating this year.

Each of the participating restaurants will offer a prix fixe menu at one of three price points: $36, $56 or $76. Tax, gratuity and beverages are not included in those prices, so diners should expect the final check to run higher than the advertised rate. Under the format, the price of the meal is set in advance, and which of the three tiers applies depends on the restaurant.

Because the event brings special deals, Restaurant Week officials are asking guests to tip 20 percent. "The people who are serving you are working harder during Restaurant Week than an average week," they said in a message on the event's website. They added that a kind word would also be welcome, noting that "these people are our friends and neighbors."

Several of the participating restaurants are in or near Dearborn. Roman Village and M Cantina, both located in Dearborn, are taking part, along with the Dearborn locations of Benihana and Kona Grill. Roman Village was recently featured for a signature pasta dish inspired by Andrea Bocelli. Antonio's Cucina Italiana is participating at its locations in Canton, Dearborn Heights and Farmington Hills.

The largest share of participating restaurants is in Detroit. The list for the city includes Besa, CIBO, Hiroki-San, Le Supreme, Marrow in the Market, Olin, Ostrea Seafood, Sexy Steak, Table No. 2 and The Whitney. Fishbone's is participating at its Detroit restaurant as well as its locations in Southfield and St. Clair Shores.

The promotion also reaches into the suburbs. Other participating spots include Arkin's Sweet BBQ Pit in Southfield, Besos in Birmingham, Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse in Birmingham, Rugby Grille in Birmingham, Ike's Restaurant in Sterling Heights, Novi Craft House in Novi and Republica in Berkley.

Benihana and Kona Grill each have additional participating locations in Troy and Northville, giving diners in those cities the same three tier options as the Dearborn sites.
