The New York Jets may look like sellers as the Nov. 10 trade deadline approaches, but rival teams asking about Garrett Wilson are getting a firm answer. According to ESPN, there is "no way" the franchise moves its star wide receiver.
Adam Schefter reports that the Jets held similar off-limits feelings last season regarding Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams, though the "situation this year with Wilson is different for various reasons."
New York sits at 2-5 this season and is widely viewed as a team willing to deal, but the fifth-year wideout is reportedly beloved by ownership. Wilson signed an extension last summer that runs through the 2030 season, and the Jets have no interest in moving him.
The production explains the stance. Wilson posted career-best numbers last season with 101 catches for 1,104 yards and seven touchdowns, and he remains the offense's top threat, drawing a 25.8% target share in the passing game. His 37 receptions for 444 yards and three scores lead the team in both catches and yardage this year.
Wilson has also said publicly this season that he has no interest in leaving. "I want to be here, man," Wilson said. "I want to win games, and that's the one thing we've been missing on here. I love it here. Do I love it more than I love winning? Nah, to be completely honest, but I'm hopeful."
Within the organization, per ESPN, the plan is to build around Wilson using the draft picks stockpiled through last season's flurry of trades, then surround him with more talent across the 2027 NFL Draft cycle.
Still, Wilson acknowledged that winning matters above all else. "No doubt, no doubt," he said. "I'd be lying if I said it's not, but at the end of the day it comes down to .. winning and losing." He added that his visible frustration "all comes from a place in my heart of wanting to win" and that he simply wants to help the team.
Jets quarterback Geno Smith said Wednesday he is "looking to get him the football as much as I can," while staying mindful of coverages and opposing defenses designed to take Wilson out of the game.
