Broken Arrow's annual holiday shopping raffle is moving from paper tickets to smartphones for 2026. The Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the Open Rewards mobile app to run Buy Broken Arrow digitally, updating a tradition that has encouraged residents to support local businesses for 30 years.

The campaign began Nov. 1 and continues through Dec. 12. About 80 businesses are taking part, with participating shops ranging from pizza parlors and soap stores to businesses selling home repair supplies. The raffle gives residents a chance to win cash prizes while encouraging them to visit businesses in Broken Arrow during the holiday season.

Shoppers have two ways to enter through the new system. They can submit a receipt from a participating business using the app, or they can visit a participating location and scan a QR code without making a purchase. Amber Miller of the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce said the change means participants will no longer need to collect paper tickets or hold on to ticket stubs.

Three cash awards are available this year: a grand prize of $10,000, a second prize of $3,000 and a third prize of $2,000. Beyond the chance to receive a payout, local business owners and shoppers described the campaign as an opportunity to support the businesses operating in their community.

Sarah Meyer, who works at Magnolia Soap in Broken Arrow, said shopping locally is especially important now. Carlos Lopez, a Broken Arrow small business owner who also shops locally, praised residents' support for small businesses. He welcomed the digital system because it removes the problem of participants losing their tickets.

The campaign also has implications for city services, according to Broken Arrow Economic Development Director Travis Stephens. He said Oklahoma law limits local governments' revenue sources to sales taxes generated within their city limits, linking purchases at local businesses to funding for municipal services.

A celebration for the drawing is scheduled at Mattress Firm in Broken Arrow on Sunday, Dec. 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. Winners will receive notifications through Open Rewards and must contact the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce within 24 hours to claim their awards.

If prizes remain unclaimed, replacement drawings will start Monday, Dec. 14, and continue daily as needed. Miller encouraged residents to download the app, explore the participating businesses and make local shopping part of their holiday plans.
