Multiple people were killed and dozens were wounded in shootings across the United States over Halloween weekend. The incidents included gunfire in a Dallas nightlife neighborhood, near university campuses and at two Halloween stores. In Newark, Delaware, six people were shot near the University of Delaware late Saturday.

Police said all six victims in Newark were taken to hospitals, but their conditions were not immediately available. Other shootings reported during the weekend occurred in Texas, Alabama, Illinois, Arkansas, California and Michigan. Authorities were investigating whether three of the incidents, all in Dallas, were connected.

Four people died and at least 15 others were injured in the Dallas shootings, according to police. The three incidents took place in the Deep Ellum neighborhood within roughly 75 minutes Saturday night. Police reported making arrests but did not disclose how many people were in custody or identify any charges they could face.

In Birmingham, Alabama, two shootings near Legion Field on Saturday night left one person dead and eight wounded, Mayor Randall Woodfin said. The gunfire followed the Magic City Classic football game, which drew nearly 70,000 spectators. Fire officials said two of the injured remained in critical condition Sunday. Police detained one person and recovered multiple weapons.

A 19-year-old woman was killed and seven other people were wounded in a shooting early Sunday near Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois, police said. Another woman was listed in critical condition. The injuries suffered by the remaining six victims were not considered life-threatening, according to police.

Near the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, six people were hospitalized with gunshot wounds following a shooting early Sunday. Police said an altercation appeared to have occurred before the gunfire. No arrests had been made in that case.

Separate shootings at Spirit Halloween stores on Friday claimed two lives. At the store in Fairfield, California, a 31-year-old woman was killed and six other people were wounded. Police characterized the shooting as a targeted attack. Family members told authorities that the woman who died was pregnant.
