Job seekers in the Allen area will have the opportunity to apply for more than 3,000 positions this month as Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas hosts its annual Hiring Red, White & You! career fair. The event is scheduled for November 19 and will be held at the Marriott Dallas Allen Hotel & Convention Center, located at 777 Watters Creek Blvd.
Organizers report that, based on employer registrations confirmed as of October 28, approximately 110 companies are expected to participate. These employers collectively offer 3,197 job openings. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free to the public.
While the program is specifically designed to help veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses find employment that values their experience, the fair remains open to all individuals seeking work. The variety of available positions spans from entry-level roles to professional careers with six-figure salaries.
Employers representing a wide range of industries, including government, manufacturing, health care, education, finance, and technology, will be present. Public safety opportunities are also highlighted, with openings available in law enforcement agencies, sheriff's offices, emergency communications departments, and fire departments.
Skilled trades and manufacturing sectors feature prominently, with jobs for welders, electricians, HVAC technicians, machine operators, CDL drivers, and maintenance technicians. Notable participating manufacturers in the North Texas region include Texas Instruments and Peterbilt Motors.
Health care and social service organizations are recruiting for nurses, caregivers, and direct-care staff. In the education sector, representatives from Plano ISD, Collin College, and the University of North Texas System will be on hand to discuss opportunities. Technology and engineering roles are also well represented, with L3Harris Technologies alone expecting to offer roughly 300 openings in engineering and IT fields. Military recruiters from the U.S. Army, Navy Reserve, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will also participate.
Phedra Redifer, the executive director of Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas, stated that the event serves as a way to recognize the service and sacrifice of veterans and military families by connecting them with meaningful career paths. She also acknowledged the Allen Economic Development Corporation for sponsoring the local event. Redifer encouraged those looking for a job or a better one to attend.
Hiring Red, White & You! is part of a statewide initiative held across Texas each November. It is organized through local Workforce Solutions boards in partnership with the Texas Workforce Commission and the Texas Veterans Commission. Since the program's inception in 2012, organizers report that more than 26,500 employers have participated, helping connect over 153,000 job seekers with employment and resulting in more than 4,300 same-day hires.
In addition to the Allen event, Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas will host another career fair on November 12 at the Cleburne Conference Center. That event is expected to feature 60 employers offering 1,732 openings. Together, the two North Texas events represent a total of more than 4,900 available jobs.
Prospective attendees are encouraged to pre-register online and bring multiple copies of their resumes. Participants should arrive prepared to speak directly with employers during the event.
